The series will move to its regular time period (Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT) beginning the following Sunday, May 15.

“Why Not? with Shania Twain” intimately documents the amazing journey of the music superstar who, by the age of 21, had survived a childhood of poverty and the loss of both her parents’ in a devastating accident. She went on to become the best-selling female artist in country music history. Then at the height of superstardom, Twain was blindsided by a double-betrayal shattering her 14-year marriage. Now she opens up about her life-altering heartbreak and how she’s moving on. She returns to her childhood home in Timmins, Northern Ontario, Canada with her sister, Carrie Ann, to revisit the memories of their adolescence and their parents shocking death. She then continues on her journey with her bandmates and closest confidants as she steps out of her comfort zone on a cross-country adventure. Along the way, Twain meets with vocal doctors and coaches, as well as a grief counselor to work through the emotional connection of her vocal restrictions. She also meets with people and families that have experienced similar hardships in their lives, and has intimate one-on-one conversations with experts in the music industry including Gladys Knight, Lionel Richie and David Foster, who provide guidance and inspiration as she attempts to reclaim her voice.

Dear Eilleen,

This is the first time I have ever written to a celebrity. I am not a star struck type person and i don't read many autobiographies unless I am drawn for some reason to the message. I was drawn to your message more because my husband grew up in Timmons as well and I wanted to learn more about your life in Canada. While reading your book your series came on OWN and I began watching that as well. This is why I am writing. I just keep coming to the conclusion that your voice has been strangled because the two people you owe so much to, your father and your husband, both betrayed you but when you talk about both of them, you focus on the admiration you have for them. While you have the right to admire what they did for you, you also have the right to be ferious at them for their betrayal. It feels to me like they are choking your voice because you are not expressing the anger you feel towards them for what they did. Your father, while taking you under his wing, he also created a very unsafe firghtening place and he hurt your mother. Mutt, launched your career and helped you find your voice as a song writer, but he took it away, all of it by betraying your trust. It is okay to be angry and still love and admire someone. You have a right to express the anger and direct it where it belongs. I know you are trying to walk away from wallowing inthe pain, but the reality is, you seem to be walking around the elephant in the room tryiing everything but being tgrue to your feelings.

This is just an observation from someone who does not know you but has lived a similar life and had similar struggles. I also worked over 25 years as a battered women's advocate.

I know you will find your way back to your voice and the full life you want.

With love and compassion,

Shawn Paul
